What happens when you order an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) from the-energy-portal?
Step 1
- For individual instructions, you can either use our Online Order Form, or call our National Operations Centre on 0844 561 7995.
- If you have more than one EPC to instruct, i.e. you have a portfolio of properties you would like to instruct at the same time, we may be able to offer you a competitive discounted price to complete all your EPC requirements in one go! Plus, to save you time, you can always provide all the properties to be inspected on one spreadsheet and leave the rest to us!
- Please contact us as above and we will be pleased to discuss your requirements accordingly.
- Alternatively, for very large volume instructions, i.e. from Social Housing organisations, we will be able to offer integration with our IT systems, making the process of instruction seamless. This includes progress reporting on a regular basis.
If you have any questions about any of the above, then please contact us as above for further information.
Step 2
Once the instruction is received, we will contact you to confirm the price and the property details. We will also take a payment from you at this time, preferably by credit card. If you have a large portfolio of properties to instruct and would prefer a credit facility to be invoiced for your instructions, then please request further details about this at the time of instruction. We can also take payment from you via the BACS system if required, but if you wish to pay by cheque, please note that we will not be able to make the appointment for the Domestic Energy Assessor to visit you until your payment has cleared.
Once we have received a cleared payment and have checked the details with you, we allocate the EPC instruction to our nearest available Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA).
Step 3
The DEA will call you separately to make arrangements to inspect the property at a time to suit you or the occupier. (Please note that there must be an adult in attendance to receive the DEA at the agreed time).
Step 4
The DEA carries out an inspection of the property, records all the necessary details including nature of construction, heating and hot water systems and controls, insulation levels and measurements. The inspector will make enquiries of the home owner or occupier wherever possible.
Step 5
The DEA submits the inspection data via a Government approved accreditation scheme at which stage the appropriate quality assurance audits are carried out.
Step 6
The Energy Performance Certificate is then lodged at Landmark where the official Report Reference Number (RRN) is issued and the DEA supplies this information back to the-energy-portal.
Step 7
Throughout the whole process, all enquiries relating to any aspect of an EPC commissioned by the-energy-portal will be handled at our National Operations Centre.
